Visiting Scholar Information
Visiting Scholars are an important part of the intellectual life of the Department of Anthropology at the University of California, Berkeley. Following university policies outlined by the VSPA office, the department has outlined the following procedure to seek affiliation. Note that it takes at least two months to process affiliation requests.

The Application Process
- Identify a sponsor among the Anthropology regular faculty who will be on campus throughout your stay.
- Provide the sponsor with a current CV and brief description of intended research. Specify a beginning and end date for your visit.
- The faculty sponsor proposes the visitor to the Department Chair.
- On approval, the Department Chair will send an official letter of invitation, along with an e-mail from the HR Coordinator explaining the process. No invitation is official until this point.
