Graduate Student Organizations

Anthropology Graduate Students Organized for Research and Action

AGORA is an organization run by current Anthropology graduate students. Its activities vary from year to year depending on the goals of the students involved at the time. Some goals of A.G.O.R.A. in the past have been to develop community among the subdisciplines, represent student concerns to faculty, and help with orientation and mentoring of incoming students.

The Kroeber Anthropological Society

The KAS Journal is the oldest graduate student-run anthropology journal in the country. Since 1950, the UC Berkeley Journal has been publishing scholarly articles in all the anthropology subdisciplines and in related fields that are of theoretical and practical interest.

An internationally renowned graduate-led anthropological journal, the KAS journal is published twice a year. In addition to our print subscription, we operate a digital open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal that is available in PDF format worldwide to researchers and the general public at no cost.
